11+ Summer Intensive course (Year 4)
27th July – 14th August 2026
Our Year 5 Summer Intensive Course is designed to provide students with the essential final preparation they need to approach their 11+ exams with confidence.
Over three intensive weeks, they will refine their exam techniques, strengthen their speed and accuracy, and master the most challenging 11+ topics – ensuring they step into exam season fully prepared and ready to succeed.
Our Year 4 Summer Intensive Course acts as a springboard for students starting their preparations for 11+ examinations. During the course, students will develop the crucial foundational tools and approaches that they will need to succeed. This preparation will ensure that, throughout Year 5, they will be able to focus on tackling topics they find particularly challenging, applying their understanding to a range of complex questions, and developing mastery of the full range of content.
This course will be held in the quiet surroundings of our Sutton Centre, where students will have the undivided attention of our expert tutors and an exclusive space to focus in small groups on collaborative and individual study.
Book NowThis course sets students up for success by providing clear, memorable guidance to follow when tackling a range of formal and creative essay types. Although Essay Writing is a key element of 11+ examinations, it is not a skill taught extensively at primary school. This course provides students with invaluable insight into the requirements and characteristics of a wide variety of writing styles, giving them the confidence they need to succeed. Students will analyse how writers employ different techniques and styles, and will be encouraged to apply this knowledge to their own writing.
- Respond to a range of writing prompts effectively and understand the requirements of different essay types
- Understand and interpret the creative choices writers make through text analysis
- Improve the quality of their writing through improved sentence structure, figurative language skills and wider vocabulary use

This course provides students with the foundational knowledge they need to confidently begin their 11+ preparations. Each day, guided by our expert tutors, students will focus on a different key topic in depth, exploring in detail any concepts which are particularly challenging. They will be encouraged to put their understanding into practice through increasingly complex problem solving questions.
- Answer questions on a wide range of key topics confidently
- Tackle complex arithmetic problems with speed and accuracy
- Apply their mathematical knowledge to challenging problem solving questions
- Explain their thinking and write their workings out clearly and concisely

English Literature is aimed at fostering a love for reading, opening up Year 4 students' minds to the wonder and joy that books can bring. Being an avid reader has consistently proven to be an important success factor for students taking the 11+. We provide a challenging novel for all students to keep, at no extra cost, so that we can use it as an entry point for these open-ended lessons, to support the development of higher-order thinking, research, and creative skills.
Through this course, we seek to go beyond the basics of reading, by encouraging students to think deeply and to analyse creatively. Each session provides a time to think deeply about the concepts underlying the text and allows students to articulate opinions through guided debates.
- Have re-discovered a passion for reading
- Have developed an inquisitive and analytical approach to reading
- Be able to articulate and evidence their interpretation of the text and the creative writing techniques within the text
- Enjoy the challenge and pace of the reading required for students taking the 11+

Our Year 4 Summer Intensive Course acts as a springboard for students starting their preparations for 11+ examinations. During the course, students will develop the crucial foundational tools and approaches that they will need to succeed.
This course will be conducted through an online learning environment called BigBlueButton. This provides students with an exclusive space to focus in small groups on collaborative, interactive and individual study, guided by our expert tutors.

Testimonials
The summer intensive course was absolutely fantastic. It was exceptionally well-organised, with regular performance updates and graded assignments accompanied by teacher comments. My daughter was fully engaged, learned a lot, was excited to complete all homework, earn reward stickers and prizes, and she had the opportunity to meet incredible teachers and make new friends. On the last day, she was in tears because she didn’t want it to end! Thank you to the entire team for the outstanding work you do!

We did the 3 week summer course at OxBridge. This was an excellent preparation for not just the Grammar schools but also for the ISEB PRE- test and the second stages at all the private school. The preparation for Verbal reasoning and creative writing went a great way to help my son with the preparation. Excellent teaching and very apt feedback - it give the extra push needed in our preparations. Besides of course the familiarity with Kings school making it easier to make them feel at home in the KCS test. Thank you OxBridge.

I was very impressed with how well organised this course is, how engaging the teachers are, and how much detailed feedback the children were given guiding them in the right direction to improve in their weaker areas. Will definitely recommend.
