11+ Summer Intensive Course (Year 5)
27th July – 14th August 2026
Our Year 5 Summer Intensive Course is designed to provide students with the essential final preparation they need to approach their 11+ exams with confidence.
Over three intensive weeks, they will refine their exam techniques, strengthen their speed and accuracy, and master the most challenging 11+ topics – ensuring they step into exam season fully prepared and ready to succeed.
Our Year 5 Summer Intensive Course is designed to provide students with the essential final preparation necessary for 11+ success. Held at the prestigious King's College School, we provide inspiring resources and fun educational activities to complement the inspiring surroundings, the likes of which students will be aiming for entry to.
Due to the design and pace of the course, we expect that by the end of the 3 weeks, participating students will have honed their exam technique, better understood their strengths and weaknesses, mastered the toughest 11+ topics, and improved their speed and fluency.
Book NowDesigned to develop style and substance in students' writing and their exposure to and analysis of quality texts. Tutors guide students through textual analysis, helping them identify the writer's purposeful choices and highlighting key features to replicate in their own work.
- Interpret texts by engaging with evidence and reading between the lines for deeper meaning
- Evaluate language use and the effect of word choice on the narrative and the reader
- Articulate an argument and justify opinions logically and coherently
- Read and write more fluently and confidently

Designed to improve students' grasp of advanced spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG). This knowledge and the accurate application of it is necessary for top marks in written tasks, as well as full comprehension of advanced texts.
- Evaluate and learn language patterns and irregular forms
- Identify and correct errors in transcription, and apply it to checking their own work
- Write with range and accuracy, using complex sentence structures, advanced punctuation, and precise vocabulary

Covers what we have found to be the trickiest concepts and curriculum areas that students encounter in their 11+ exams. Our approach reinforces core knowledge first, then goes beyond by asking questions in increasingly challenging ways to encourage mathematical reasoning.
- Have developed skills for mathematical reasoning
- Be able to explain their thinking, including showing their working out
- Have mastered quick calculation of increasingly complex arithmetic

All about application of knowledge. Our approach is to break down types of worded problems, help students analyse questions and understand what is required of them, and independently plan the steps required to solve any question quickly and efficiently.
- Interpret worded problems and devise strategies to solve them
- Clearly communicate these strategies by showing their working out
- Understand if the answer they have calculated is appropriate
- Apply their pre-existing knowledge to new problems

Our fun-filled endings to each day that mean students come away brimming with ideas and excited to learn. These sessions consist of learning challenges still targeted at developing key 11+ skills, but in a way that motivates students to excel!
During these sessions, students might tackle an engineering challenge by bridge building, take on an interactive quiz to build 11+ vocabulary, work collaboratively on a maths olympiad, or take on a murder mystery to build their reading comprehension.

Testimonials
I just wanted to say thank you for your support through the 11 plus! The Kings intensive summer course was a complete game changer for us!
Sofia fell in love with learning through that course – which is more than I ever imaged possible. It made an incredible difference to her attitude and dedication and I have been blown away. She sailed through the 11 plus completely unphased and we received offers from all our aspirational choices including Wimbledon High, Putney High, LEH and Kingston Grammar. We couldn’t be happier and a lot of this is directly due to your programme and the impact it had on her. We will be signing up our son in 2026!

The summer intensive course was absolutely fantastic. It was exceptionally well-organised, with regular performance updates and graded assignments accompanied by teacher comments. My daughter was fully engaged, learned a lot, was excited to complete all homework, earn reward stickers and prizes, and she had the opportunity to meet incredible teachers and make new friends. On the last day, she was in tears because she didn’t want it to end! Thank you to the entire team for the outstanding work you do!

We did the 3 week summer course at OxBridge. This was an excellent preparation for not just the Grammar schools but also for the ISEB PRE- test and the second stages at all the private school. The preparation for Verbal reasoning and creative writing went a great way to help my son with the preparation. Excellent teaching and very apt feedback - it give the extra push needed in our preparations. Besides of course the familiarity with Kings school making it easier to make them feel at home in the KCS test. Thank you OxBridge.

My soon Year 5 girl has recently had the opportunity to attend the summer intensive course at Oxbridge Tutoring Center.
I highly recommend Oxbridge Tutoring Center to anyone looking for a personalised and effective learning experience. The small class sizes, dedicated instructors, and supportive environment make it an ideal place to excel academically.

I was very impressed with how well organised this course is, how engaging the teachers are, and how much detailed feedback the children were given guiding them in the right direction to improve in their weaker areas. Will definitely recommend.
