Face-to-face Course

We are only able to offer places to those participating in all subjects for the full 3 weeks due to the consistently high demand for the limited places, coupled with timetabling constraints. If you are looking for more flexibility regarding subjects/duration of the course, take a look at our Online Summer Intensive Course!

Due to the timetabling of our courses, all students joining the F2F SIC are required to take all subjects. If you are interested in taking fewer subjects, please feel free to check out our online courses.

Our Year 5 Summer Intensive Course classes have a maximum of 12 students per class. There are 6 classes, meaning there are 72 places available in total.

Please fill in the Face-to-face Summer Intensive Course booking form with your details and ensure you pay the £100 deposit or the full course fees (whichever is less) in order to be placed on a queue for our team to process your booking.

Your place will be confirmed by our team based on availability followed by complete payment by the 22nd June 2025.

Our final deadline for payments is 23:59 on the 22nd June. If we have not received full payment by this date, sadly we will not be able to offer you a place on the course.

We understand that circumstances can change and you may need to withdraw from the course.

We offer:

  • 100% refund (minus the £100 non-refundable deposit) up until the 2nd March 2025
  • Unfortunately after the 2nd March we are unable to offer any refunds.

Make sure to let us know as early as you if your child is unable to attend the course.

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds/reduced rates for any absence during the course unless your child is sick and can produce a doctor’s note for our team. We will, however, be able to provide all of the workbooks and resources for collection to be completed at home.

The Year 5 Summer Intensive Course comprises a full day, 9am – 4pm, from Mon-Fri of each week.

Each day will include 1hr 20mins classes of each of the four subjects (English, Literacy, Maths, Problem Solving), along with an engaging, educational activity/challenge at the end of each day to encourage team-building and embrace healthy competition. The day will be broken up by two 15 minute breaks and 40 minutes for lunch.

We offer an early bird discount of 15% on both the Year 4 and Year 5 Summer Intensive Courses for full payments made before 2nd March 2025!

We also offer an additional 5% sibling discount for any siblings booked onto an SIC course at the same time.

We offer a £60 referral credit for customers who refer someone new to Oxbridge to the SIC. The credit will apply to both the referring and the new customer. The credit will go towards the next Academic Year tuition fees, on your return to Oxbridge Centre.

Just let us know the name of the referring customer, or the new customer being referred during booking, and we will take care of the rest!

Our students will require basic stationery (pen, pencil, rubber, ruler etc), a packed lunch (Year 5 only), water bottle, and enthusiasm to learn!

Please notify us if your child has any severe allergies, medical conditions, or any regular medications that we should be aware of prior to the start of the course so that necessary arrangements can be made.

As their daily homework, students will be required to complete their booklets for all four subjects, which will include an extended writing task for English.

The completed booklet is submitted the following day and will be marked by our marking team, along with individual feedback from our tutors. Our aim is to provide timely feedback in order to maximise learning and improvement during our course.

Markschemes will be available for you to review the course material with your child until the end of the year.

Our Summer Intensive Course is aptly titled as we try to pack in as much as we can within the 3-weeks. In particular, our Year 5 Summer Intensive Course is held in the lead up to the 11+ entrance examinations and it is our duty to equip all of our students with the necessary tools needed to succeed. We understand that it is an intense workload, but from our years of experience, we recognise that the students who put in the most hard work are also those who gain the most from our course.

If your child is unable to complete all of the homework for the following day, we will still do our best to mark the completed work at a later date, but can not guarantee that it will be marked before the end of the course.

The timetable will be ready for you by 30th June 2025.

We will be providing assessment tasks for completion before the start of the course. These assessment tasks will inform class allocation. Throughout the course, OxBridge will monitor student performance, and make adjustments to classes where necessary.

More information about the assessment tasks will be provided in due course.

Online Course

Our Online Summer Intensive Course will take place between 28th July and 15th August 2025. The booking form will appear slightly different to our face-to-face course as it will be divided by week for you to select the desired weeks:

  • Week 1 : 28th – 1st August
  • Week 2 : 4th – 8th August
  • Week 3 : 11th – 15th August

For our Online Summer Intensive Course, we are able to offer a lot of flexibility in the selection of weeks and/or subjects. Please ensure you select the subjects you would like to take and which weeks (1-3) you would like your child to participate in and we will do our best to accommodate your choices.

Classes do have have to be booked in complete weeks (Mon-Fri).

Classes will take place daily between 9am and 5:30pm. We try to fit most lessons before 4pm. Students who take all courses, including VR/NVR, may be placed on an extended timetable as there is a lot to fit in!

Please note, however, that full 3 week bookings are given priority.

Please fill in the Online Summer Intensive Course Booking Form with your details and ensure you pay the £100 non-refundable deposit, or full course payment (whichever is less) in order to be placed on a queue for our team to process your booking.

Your place will be confirmed by our team based on availability followed by complete payment by the 22nd June 2025.

Our final deadline for payments is 23:59 on the 22nd June. If we have not received full payment by this date, sadly we will not be able to offer you a place on the course.

The Summer Intensive Course will operate much like our Regular Courses. We use a platform called ‘Big Blue Button’ to create virtual classrooms and the tutor is always visible on the screen along with the class material. There are various ways that our students can interact with the tutor and classmates; tutors and students can annotate the material with their mouse, there is an interactive poll feature, students can unmute their microphones to answer questions, or type in the live chat box.

You will get access to the online classroom via the online portal once your payment has been processed and the timetabling has been finalised.

For our Online Summer Intensive Course, we will be posting all learning materials to customers residing in the UK, prior to the course.

Students will be set homework to be completed for each subject daily. The students are required to upload the completed homework by 9am the day after it has been set for our tutors to mark and return the following day.

Mark schemes will be available for you to review the course material with your child until the end of the year.

Unfortunately there are no other discounts available for the Year 4 online course.

We can only take bookings in full weeks for this course and we do not offer any refunds/reduced rates for any absences during the course. The only exception is if your child is sick and can produce a doctor’s note for our team.

For all absences we will be able to provide you with the workbooks and resources to be completed at home.

Please ensure your child has access to the correct workbook for the correct day and all necessary stationery (pencil, rubber, ruler). Calculators are not necessary for this course.

Our recommendations for the optimum experience would be:

  • Laptop with microphone, keyboard, mouse
  • Google Chrome web browser
  • Broadband internet connection
  • Printed daily class material
  • Basic stationery (pen, pencil, rubber, ruler etc)
  • Enthusiasm to learn!

The timetable will be ready for you by 30th June 2025.

We offer the online course to give flexibility and convenience to parents who live further afield or have other commitments during the summer. As a result we allocate these classes based on availability to allow all students to attend.

Our tutors at OxBridge will be constantly assessing levels and will recommend any adjustments if needed.

We understand that circumstances can change and you may need to withdraw from the course.

We offer:

  • 100% refunds up until the 2nd March 2025
  • Unfortunately after the 2nd March we are unable to offer any refunds

Ensure to let us know as early as you can if your child is unable to attend the course.

If you have not received your workbooks by this date, please let us know and we will ensure these are sent out to you as soon as possible.

All we ask of you is that you check through all of workbooks and ensure you have received everything according to your course booking. Please ensure to check that your child has the correct workbook daily.

Our Year 5 Summer Intensive Course is designed to provide students with the essential final preparation necessary for 11+ success. Held at the prestigious Kings College School, we provide inspiring resources and fun educational activities to complement the inspiring surroundings, the likes of which students will be aiming for entry to.

Due to the design and pace of the course, we expect that by the end of the 3 weeks, participating students will have honed their exam technique, better understood their strengths and weaknesses, mastered the toughest 11+ topics, and improved their speed and fluency. All of this maximises students’ potential when it comes to their rapidly approaching entrance exams.

Subjects

English

This course has been designed to develop style and substance in students’ writing and their exposure to, – and analysis of – quality texts. Tutors will guide students through textual analysis, helping them identify the writer’s purposeful choices, how language is used for effect, and highlighting key features that students can replicate in their own works.

By the end of this course, students should feel confident in exam-based writing and comprehension tasks. They will be able to:

  • Interpret texts, by engaging with evidence and ‘reading between the lines’ for deeper meaning.
  • Evaluate language use and the effect of word choice on narrative and reader.
  • Articulate an argument and justify opinions logically and coherently.
  • Read & write more fluently and confidently.

Literacy

This course has been designed to improve students’ grasp of advanced spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG). This knowledge and the accurate application of it is necessary for top marks in written tasks, as well as full comprehension of advanced texts – all of which will come up in the 11+ examination.

By the end of this course, students should understand and be able to apply the full range of SPAG rules and prior knowledge needed to succeed. They will be able to:

  • Evaluate and learn language patterns and irregular forms.
  • Identify and correct errors in transcription, and be able to apply it to checking their own work.
  • Write with range and accuracy, using complex sentence structures, advanced punctuation, and precise vocabulary.

Maths

This course covers what we have found to be the trickiest concepts and curriculum areas that students encounter in their 11+ exams. Our approach is to reinforce the basic core knowledge and fill information gaps first, then go beyond by asking questions in increasingly challenging ways. This encourages mathematical reasoning and builds full understanding, meaning that students are equipped with breadth and depth in their knowledge.

By the end of this course, students should be able to apply a full range of mathematical knowledge, as well as:

  • Have developed skills for mathematical reasoning.
  • Be able to explain their thinking, including showing their working out.
  • Have mastered quick calculation of increasingly complex arithmetic.

Problem Solving

This course is all about application of knowledge. Students of this age group consistently struggle to understand how to use what they know when it is presented out of context, or in a worded format. Our approach is to break down types of worded problems, to help students analyse questions and understand what is required of them, and independently plan the steps required to solve any question quickly and efficiently.

By the end of this course, students should be able to solve an increasingly broad variety and complexity of worded problems. They will be able to:

  • Interpret worded problems and devise strategies to solve them.
  • Clearly communicate these strategies, by showing their working out.
  • Understand if the answer they have calculated is appropriate.
  • Apply their pre-existing knowledge to new problems.

Brain Olympics

The Brain Olympics are our fun-filled endings to each day that mean that students come away from our course brimming with ideas and excited to learn. These sessions consist of learning challenges that are still targeted at developing key 11+ skills, but in a way that motivates students to excel!

During these sessions, students might tackle an engineering challenge by bridge building (to build their applied maths skills), take on an interactive quiz (to build that all-important 11+ vocabulary), work collaboratively on a maths olympiad, or take on a murder mystery (to build their reading comprehension).

BigBlueButton online learning environment

Our Year 5 Summer Intensive Course is designed to provide students with the essential final preparation necessary for 11+ success. Our online course is there to provide parents and students with the flexibility to choose subjects and create a convenient schedule. Classes will take place in an online learning environment called BigBlueButton.

Due to the design and pace of the course, we expect that by the end of the 3 weeks, participating students will have honed their exam technique, better understood their strengths and areas for improvement, mastered the toughest 11+ topics, and improved their speed and fluency. VR & NVR

This course has been specially designed to enhance students’ critical thinking, logical problem-solving, vocabulary, and their ability to find and predict patterns. These skills are crucial to understanding, attempting and solving Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning problems, as well as improving capabilities in Maths and Literacy.

Throughout this course, students will be provided with ample opportunity to practice Verbal and Non-Verbal questions, instructed in methods to solve the various types of problems, and discuss approaches to improve speed and fluency.

By the end of the course, we expect that students will:

  • Be able to recognise patterns rapidly, and extend them;
  • Have increased their vocabulary and spelling; and
  • Be fully familiar with a full range of question types used in 11+ examinations.
