Year 3 English and Maths courses
Take the next step in your child’s learning journey with our Year 3 English and Maths courses

We offer weekly English and Maths classes in person and online, designed to give your child a solid understanding of the foundational knowledge and skills required by these core subjects.

Year 3 Courses
We believe that learning is most effective when lessons are engaging and interesting. Our booklets, designed in-house by our publishing team, are filled with explanations, activities, core topic questions, illustrations and homework tasks. Our tutors will guide students through these booklets, explaining concepts, exploring challenging areas, and answering questions.
English
Each lesson will begin with a reading comprehension task, designed to encourage enthusiasm and confidence in budding learners.
Students will test their understanding of a text with multiple-choice and longer written answers, before completing a range of literacy exercises which test key rules of the English language. These skills will then be applied to a writing task which they complete for homework. The knowledge gained across the year will create a secure foundation for any future exam preparation.
Over the course of the year, your child will develop the ability to:
- Read texts accurately at a steady speed
- Interpret and retrieve information from a range of fiction and non-fiction texts
- Demonstrate knowledge of a wide vocabulary
- Confidently complete a range of literacy exercises
- Apply knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar concepts to their own writing
Each week’s booklet contains:
- A weekly spelling test with 10 words
- A reading comprehension text, followed by multiple-choice and written questions
- A range of spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary exercises
- Homework
Maths
In Year 3, our students begin exploring worded problem solving questions in greater depth. Students will learn how to apply their knowledge to real-world situations by identifying, explaining and completing the calculations required by a question. This is a key skill that your child will encounter in Year 4, 5 and beyond.
In each lesson, your child will encounter questions which require addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Establishing a sound understanding of these essential calculating skills makes it easier to grasp new concepts as they progress through their Maths education.
Over the course of the year, your child will develop the ability to:
- Answer simple arithmetic questions quickly and accurately
- Develop their knowledge of core mathematical topics including Time, Money, Length, Shapes, Times Tables, Fractions and Place Value, as well as exploring advanced topics such as Bar Graphs, Venn Diagrams and Frequency Tables
- Apply their understanding of key topics to simple worded problem solving questions
Each week’s booklet contains:
- Questions and activities exploring the week’s core topic
- Problem Solving questions
- Homework
