Get your child’s learning journey off to a great start with our Year 2 courses

We offer weekly in-person English and Maths classes, designed to support your child in developing the foundational knowledge and skills required by these core subjects.

Year 2 Courses

Our Year 2 tuition program has been designed to make learning engaging, effective and fun. Our booklets, created in-house by our team of experts, are filled with activities, explanations, core topic questions, colourful illustrations and homework tasks. Our tutors guide the class through these booklets, explaining concepts, exploring challenging topics in depth, and answering any questions students may have.

English

Each lesson, your child will explore a range of fun exercises aimed at improving their spelling, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary and reading skills.

By the end of the course, they will have read and answered questions about stories, information texts, poems, posters and adverts, all for the purpose of developing the speed and accuracy of their understanding.

Over the course of the year, your child will develop the ability to:

  • Read aloud more fluently, including unfamiliar and tricky words
  • Write in full sentences with correct spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Complete a range of literacy and comprehension exercises
  • Build their vocabulary

Each week’s booklet contains:

  • A weekly spelling test with 8 words
  • A short and engaging reading comprehension text, followed by multiple-choice and short written questions
  • Exercises in spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary
  • Homework

Maths

During each lesson, our students will encounter questions which require addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Establishing a sound understanding of these calculating skills makes it easier to grasp new concepts as they make the next steps in their education.

This course also introduces our students to worded problem solving questions, encouraging them to consider real-world applications of their knowledge – an essential mathematical skill.

Over the course of the year, your child will develop the ability to:

  • Answer simple arithmetic questions quickly and accurately
  • Develop their knowledge of core mathematical topics including Time, Money, Length, Shapes, Times Tables, Fractions and Place Value
  • Apply their understanding of key topics to simple worded problem solving questions

Each week’s booklet contains:

  • Questions and activities exploring the week’s core topic
  • Introductory Problem Solving questions
  • Homework
