Reading Club™ (Year 1 - 6)
Our Reading Club is aimed at students aged 6-12 who are looking to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in a engaging and interactive environment. Most importantly, Reading Club encourages students to enjoy reading and view it as a hobby. We focus on comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and essay writing skills. Students learn basic analytical skills and start to pick up on discussion skills as well. Each week the class will complete one book. Most of the reading is set for homework and in class they complete stimulating reading and writing exercises based on the literature. Students are encouraged to take part in individual and group work to further their knowledge of the English language. This Reading Club is a fun and easy way for students to develop a passion for reading.
Shakespeare Reading Club™ (Year 7 - 8)
This course is aimed at Year 7-8 students who want to acquire skills in studying and analysing plays. These classes are a helpful introduction to the many works of Shakespeare. We use modern versions of his original plays, enabling students to appreciate Shakespeare’s plays in preparation for year 9 when it becomes compulsory to study Shakespeare at school.
The following plays will be studied: Twelfth Night, King Lear, The Tempest, The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of The Shrew, King Richard The Second, King Henry IV Part One, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth.
